The Little Black Dress Initiative

Monday, March 11, 2024 - Monday, March 18, 2024

The Junior League of Greater Orlando participates in The Little Black Dress Initiative (LBDI). LBDI is a week-long social media and community events campaign that uses the iconic “little black dress” to raise awareness about poverty in the Orlando community. Traditionally, LBDI participants wear one black dress or an all-black outfit for five consecutive days to illustrate the effects poverty can have on our society. A button that reads “Ask Me About My Dress” helps invite dialogue among colleagues, friends and strangers.  The JLGO hosts LBDI community events during the week long campaign, and participates are encouraged to harness the power of social media to drive online donations to raise funds to benefit JLGO’s mission and our partner organizations. We will begin our annual LBDI on March 11th 2024.
