Healthy, Informed, Playful (HIP) Kids Events
In response to our community’s needs in the areas of childhood health, hunger, and poverty, the JLGO created HIP Kids. Since its inception in 2010, the HIP Kids program attempts to solve the immediate and long-term challenges faced by hungry children. HIP Kids Events aims to reduce hunger and improve health in children at the Rock Lake Neighborhood Center by hosting educational sessions each year – our Holiday Party in December, our Field Day in April and new in February 2019 – a Health Fair. Parents are invited to attend as the JLGO seeks to help families make healthier eating and exercise choices. During the 2017/2018 League year, the HIP Kids Events program served 79 children at the Rock Lake Community and donated 590 holiday gifts and summer pack items.
HIP Kids Events is a proud recipient of Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer’s Mayor’s Matching Grant in 2018-2019 for our all-new Health Fair expansion. For more information on the grant, please click here.
