Healthy, Informed, Playful (HIP) Kids Events
In response to our community’s needs in the areas of childhood health, hunger, and poverty, the JLGO created HIP Kids. Since its inception in 2010, the HIP Kids program attempts to solve the immediate and long-term challenges faced by hungry children. HIP Kids Events aims to reduce hunger and improve health in children at the Rock Lake Neighborhood Center by hosting educational sessions each year – our Holiday Party in December, our Health Fair in February, and our Field Day in April. Parents are invited to attend as the JLGO seeks to help families make healthier eating and exercise choices. During the 2018/2019 League year, the HIP Kids Events program served 188 children at the Rock Lake Neighborhood Center and donated 150 holiday gifts, health fair takeaways and summer pack backpacks.
HIP Kids Events is a proud recipient of Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer’s Mayor’s Matching Grant in 2018-2019 for our all-new Health Fair expansion. For more information on the grant, please click here.
Additonally, HIP Kids Events is proud to be a recipient of a grant from Publix Super Markets Charities which will fund fun and exciting programs and events for the children at the Rock Lake Neighborhood Center.
