Our Mission Statement The Junior League of Greater Orlando (JLGO) is an organization of women committed to promoting volunteerism, developing the potential of women, and improving the community through the effective action and leadership of trained volunteers. Our purpose is exclusively educational and charitable.
Our Vision We will be known as an organization of trained volunteers well recognized for enhancing the lives of families and children. We are specifically committed to improving childhood health, hunger and poverty in the Greater Orlando area. Our Values The values that drive the JLGO include: Empowering membership through training volunteers; making a difference in our community; recognizing the uniqueness of individuals; managing our resources responsibility. Our Membership The Junior League of Greater Orlando is made up of over 700 women from throughout Central Florida. Our members include executives, community leaders, entrepreneurs, mothers and professionals in such diverse fields as law, health care, communications, finance, engineering, education and sales. We come from diverse backgrounds and welcome all women who are at least 21 years of age.Our Commitment to the Community In our 60-year history of service, the JLGO has contributed more than $1 million and more than one million hours of service to the Orlando community. Our efforts have helped children, the elderly, and families in the areas of health issues, education, art and cultural endeavors, and the environment. The JLGO has supported and started programs such as the Crisis Nursery for children with medical and support needs, the Discovery Room at the Orlando Science Center, the Family Support & Visitation Center, the 4C Toy Library, the Orlando Opera Guild, and the ADDitions parent volunteer program in Orange County Public Schools.
